Sometimes, you need to bake a cake

In our culture, we are all about therapy. There's physical therapy, occupational therapy, family therapy. Then, if you want to go a little more abstract, there's music therapy, art therapy, and retail therapy. Ben & Jerry's has a flavor called "Chocolate Therapy."

But I, my friends, remain indisputably impartial to baking therapy.

Some days, you just have to bake a cake. Or brownies. Or cookies. Or, maybe, all three.

Today is one of those days. It's been a good day; it's the end of a very, very good month. But there's an overwhelming amount of life on the horizon coming right for me in the weeks ahead. I'll post more specifics later, and I also owe a post on the unexpected blessings from the past school year (probably good timing to be reflecting on these). But for now, let me just say that sometimes, there are not words to describe how I'm feeling and I need a way to rest and remember that life, in the midst of its messiness, can be sweet.

And the sweetest way to remember that, dear friends, is cake. Bon appetit!
