Well, it WAS pretty epic...

On their most recent writing assignment, my students had to write about how The Odyssey followed the typical epic storyline. One student wrote about how Odysseus's "call to adventure" occurred when "an angel visited him to give him news after his son was born." Seeing as there is NO angel in the Odyssey, I'm pretty sure this child was mixing up the Odyssey and the Christmas story. Maybe I'll just teach that one next year instead--at least I know how THAT epic starts...
